I'm only going to critique the bad things. Hope that's okay. The head is too stretched in length, it's more of an oval than a circle. The snout seems like it could be a bit more rounder. I'unno, possibly. The ear is relatively small to the size of the head. Make it a bit larger, maybe smaller or the size of the eye? The hat looks out of place. But placing it a bit more closer to her ear would seem nice. Something about the shading seems out of place. TIP - Start drawing a circle then draw stuff on her face. That's what their heads are shaped as. Circles.
I can definitely comprehend what you are tying to say.
First off, let me point out that the head being oval-shaped was notmy idea. The intent of this picture being made was to make a variation of things. I made this not only to indulge my watchers to an amusing, cute holiday picture, as to make a Christmas card for my brother. I can agree that the hat looks very out of place, and the only reason I added it to the picture was to make it look festive, but in the process of that, I didn't put much assiduity into making it- and to make it fit into this week's theme at #MLP-ATG-Alumni- a festive pony.
The picture at first wasn't really made for the effect of fitting any theme whatsoever, but to make a better, more polished version of a cherubical picture from a tumblr I enjoy- Ask Futashy- which is linked to here: [link].
And lastly, I just wanted to confess that yes, I don't sketch before I draw- I just draw.
